AYRSHIRE COASTAL PATH
The Ayrshire Coastal Path has it all, from sandy beaches to rural countryside capturing the best of Ayrshire’s dramatic scenery.
The route totals 134km (84 miles) and starts in Glenapp, finishing in Skelmorlie.
There are twelve distinct stages varying in distances from between 3.5 to 5 hours.
NATIONAL CYCLE ROUTE 7
The National Cycle Route 7 features a number of Ayrshire’s landmark towns including Irvine, Troon, Prestwick and Ayr and is a popular route connecting to Glasgow in the north to Wigtown in the south, and beyond.
The entire route is a staggering 869km (540 miles) and features a distinct little red sign.
RIVER AYR
A challenging walk that can be done in stages walking (or on off road bikes?), the route stretches from its source at Glenbuck Loch in Cumnock to Ayr Harbour.
The total route spans 66.25km (41 miles) and is routinely walked in stages across three days making it the ideal weekend trip.
SMUGGLERS TRAIL
Depending on your starting point, the Trail stretches from South Beach Esplanade in Troon all the way to Dundonald Castle & Visitors Centre.
Named after Dundonald’s eighteenth century to the smuggling trade, the10.1 km (6.3 mile) walk is said to have transported tea, rum, tobacco and other worldly goods from boats arriving in Troon.
